The City of Fremantle is currently seeking to appoint an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic Senior Parks and Landscape Officer to join our Parks and Landscapes Service Team. You will be a passionate team player that has experience leading small teams and can provide great outcomes for our community. Key Responsibilities
- Undertake general horticultural maintenance tasks such as planting, hedging, formative and clearance pruning.
- Ensure adequate supervision and direction of assigned parks and landscapes officers.
- Under limited direction manage day to day scheduling and task prioritising of maintenance works including delegation of work within the team.
- Manage turf maintenance such as mowing, grass edging and brush cutting.
- Ability to operate machinery relevant for the role such as hand tools, pruning equipment, mowing equipment, weed management tools etc.
- Identify weeds, pests and diseases and use appropriate methods of control via mechanical, cultural and chemical control methods.
- Maintain accurate work records, e.g. timesheets, audits, reports and appropriate forms in manual and digital environments. To be considered for this position, you will need
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Experience in parks and gardens or a similar environment, including practical experience with horticultural plant and equipment.
- Sound leadership skills, including the ability to lead, motivate and performance manage staff whilst promoting a team ethos.
- Sound knowledge of amenity horticulture, turf, tree and reticulation maintenance practices.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite of applications, and Adobe Suite.
- A current WA ‘C’ class manual driver’s licence and white Card
- A horticulture-related qualification is desirable but not essential
