- Be part of a 145 year old organisation that puts its people first and has their best interests at heart The Detailer role at our Truss & Frame manufacturing plant is focused on preparing accurate designs of timber components, including wall frames and roof trusses, using engineered Pryda Build Design software. You will read residential plans, drawings and specifications, take off material quantities, and prepare detailed manufacturing drawings that flow directly to our production floor. Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will liaise with engineers, site supervisors and customers to discuss job specifics and resolve in office issues when they pop up. The Branch Manager will provide coaching and guidance to help you excel in your role and grow your detailing career with Dahlsens. This is a technical, deadline-driven role that suits someone with strong attention to detail, sound timber and building knowledge, and the ability to juggle multiple jobs at once while delivering accurate, quality work every time. RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE
- Accurate and timely detailing of truss and frame drawings ready for manufacturing
- Reading residential plans, drawings and specifications to interpret build requirements
- Creating drawings using Pryda Build Design CAD software (or comparable engineered detailing software)
- Carrying out measurements and calculations, and taking off material quantities for each job
- Designing wall frames, roof trusses and other timber components in line with relevant Australian Standards (AS/NZS)
- Providing technical support and advice to current and potential customers
- Liaising with engineers, site supervisors and customers to confirm job specifics and resolve on-site issues
- Working closely with the plant production team to ensure detailing supports an efficient manufacturing flow
- Meeting and exceeding the plant detailing requirements set by the Branch Manager
- Living the 'Our Circle of Care' principles – See, Say, Listen, Stop – and looking out for the safety of yourself, your team, our customers and the community QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Experience using Pryda Build Design, MiTek or comparable engineered CAD/detailing software (preferred)
- Knowledge of the building industry and relevant Australian Standards (AS/NZS) (preferred)
- Trade background (carpentry/construction) or tertiary qualification in a related discipline (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of timber and building materials, and how they're used on residential sites
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask across competing deadlines
- Confident with mathematical calculations and material take-offs
- Solid computer literacy and the ability to pick up new systems quickly
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with engineers, builders and site supervisors
- Problem-solving mindset, with the initiative to resolve on-site and design issues
