The Product Development team manages the conception, development, design and delivery of collectible uncirculated coins, commemorative circulating coins and non-coin items. They develop over 100 products each year, released in line with revenue targets, market demand and seasonal trends. They also process legislative instruments for current legal tender coins.
The Research Officer undertakes research and drafts documents related to the development of new commemorative coins. Research includes studies on themes to commemorate on circulating and uncirculated coins, intellectual property ownership, historic manufacturing and sales, and environmental scans and competitor analysis. They also undertake periodic research on the Minting and Collectibles industries to identify trends, opportunities and risks.
The duties of this position include:
- Undertaking research on nationally significant themes, custodianships, intellectual property ownership and industry trends.
- Assisting in the curation of the Mint’s numismatic program, ensuring that commemorations align with relevant policies.
- Collaborating with product leads on the development of business cases, including conducting environmental scans, competitor analysis, and identifying opportunities and risks, ensuring recommendations are supported by evidence.
- Drafting accurate, well-written and timely documents to guide development, design and marketing of new commemorative coins and packaging.
- Proofreading documents, packaging and marketing copy.
**Security clearance** This position requires a **Baseline** security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
