I am partnered with a Federal Government Agency in the heart of Geelong to recruit an APS6 Strategic Communications Officer for a 12-month, full-time temporary assignment with the potential to extend. **Your new role**

The APS6 Strategic Communications Officer is a team leadership position and will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across a range of activities. The role is required to provide leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management and decision making for the team membership within the work area. The position is required to provide detailed technical, professional, policy, operational support and advice in relation to complex problems. Where required, the role will coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program and project management and policy development. The APS6 Strategic Communications Officer will have a considerable level of public contact in relation to complex, difficult or sensitive issues. It is required to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders in a representational role.

**Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to**:

- Demonstrating exceptional organisation skills and high attention with all detail.
- Championing plain English and ensure all collateral is accessible and aligns with the style and branding guidelines.
- Leading through example, serving as a trusted communications expert, helping key internal stakeholders and business partners deliver the objectives of each project.
- Drafting clear, concise and effective messaging for different audiences, including creation of talking points and speeches
- Contributing towards the development and delivery of different communications plans, progressing approvals and coordination of go-live collateral.
- Identifying and developing important internal stakeholder relationships, addressing and resolving any emerging challenges with stakeholders.
- Evaluating the impact of communications, identifying any future learnings and determining whether the identified objectives for each project have been achieved.
- Supporting team members with administration, technical and procedural tasks.

**What you'll need to succeed**
- A high level of contact with internal stakeholders and will be required to communicate with, develop and help to execute messaging for projects of varying complexities
- As a trusted communications advisor attained through experience, you (and any direct reports) will support key internal stakeholders to help communicate about their work.- Autonomy to undertake activities and tasks to scope all the necessary information. The role will be required to perform procedural, clerical, administrative and operational tasks
- Australian Citizenship- High level interpersonal skills- Solid organisational and planning skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
