**About the role** The Manager, Marketing will spearhead transformational change within the marketing function, aligning efforts to drive the City of Greater Geelong’s strategic goals. This role is dedicated to elevating capabilities through forward-thinking and strategic marketing initiatives that reflect our organisation’s ambitions. The Manager will lead initiatives that enhance capability to best-in-class standards and champion innovative solutions that deeply engage our community, customers, and staff.
Reporting directly to the Chief Customer and Marketing Officer, the Manager, Marketing will oversee a team of marketing officers and graphic designers. Key responsibilities include developing and executing initiatives to increase brand relevance, enhance community and customer engagement, and drive change across the organisation. The role covers strategic marketing planning, campaign management, events marketing, and design services to deliver effective, engaging communications.
**Work type: Permanent Full Time. **We are proposing a commencement date late January/early February 2025 **Classification**: SPL 1 $144,271 pa plus superannuation
**About the Corporate Services Directorate**
The Corporate Services Directorate drives high performance and excellence in governance across the City of Greater Geelong. The Directorate includes functions such as Finance, IT, People and Culture, Transformation, Legal, Executive Services, Customer Service, Marketing, and Governance and Risk.
The Customer and Marketing Office supports the City’s mission by engaging and communicating with our customers, providing customer service, promoting our services, and enhancing our brand reputation.
**Key Position Responsibilities**
**Specialist Work**
- **Lead Transformational Marketing Strategy** Develop and implement the City’s marketing strategy, supporting the Council Plan through multi-channel campaigns that foster a culture of **innovation**.
- **Campaign Management** Lead a team to deliver consistent messaging across digital, print, and outdoor platforms.
- **Brand Management** Ensure alignment of the brand with City values, leading its evolution for community engagement.
- **Data-Driven Decision-Making** Use insights and analytics to optimize campaigns and improve ROI, tracking KPIs to measure success.
- **Customer-Centric Approach** Develop plans to anticipate customer needs, contributing to the CRM system's development.
- **Change & Budget Management** Oversee marketing budgets, ensuring resource efficiency and readiness for process and technology shifts.
**People Leadership**
- **Support Team Development** Mentor team members, reinforce common goals, and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive culture.
**Organizing Resources & Planning**
- **Align with Business Strategy** Coordinate activities to support the department’s strategic goals, ensuring continuous improvement and high-quality outcomes.

**Required**: **Education & Experience** Tertiary qualification in Marketing/Strategy/Business Administration, with 10+ years of marketing experience, including 3+ years in senior roles.
**Skills & Knowledge** Expertise in digital marketing, content marketing, brand strategy, and data-driven decision-making.
**Desirable**: **Public Service Experience** Experience in public service or agency environments is an advantage.
