About the Role We are seeking full-time and experienced Pressure Welders to join our team in Karumba, Queensland. The role involves aluminium welding and fabrication work associated with marine vessel construction, repair, and commercial fabrication projects within a workshop and onsite environment. Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Interpret technical drawings, welding specifications, and fabrication plans
- Perform welding, assembly, and repair of pressure vessels, pipes, and fabricated metal components
- Perform MIG welding and metal fabrication duties in accordance with project specifications and Australian standards
- Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair metal structures and marine vessel components
- Prepare, align, and fit metal sections and components for welding and fabrication
- Operate welding equipment, fabrication machinery, and hand and power tools safely and efficiently
- Inspect completed welds and fabricated components to ensure quality, penetration, and compliance with specifications
- Carry out onsite fabrication and repair work as required
- Maintain workplace safety standards and follow protected work procedures at all times
- Assist with workshop maintenance, equipment upkeep, and material preparation
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to support project delivery Skills and Experience
- Relevant qualifications and experience aligned with ANZSCO Pressure Welder
- AQF Certificate III including at least two years of relevant on-the-job training; or
- AQF Certificate IV in a relevant trade discipline
- At least three (3) years of relevant industry experience may substitute for formal qualifications
- Experience in aluminium welding and fabrication preferred
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding specifications
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety Selection Criteria
- Relevant welding certificates are preferred; however, a minimum of 3 years of full-time verified experience in a similar role will be considered.
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in marine aluminum welding, particularly in MIG welding.
- Preference for applicants with experience in commercial or large pleasure craft vessel construction.
- Must be willing to undertake a welding test to be eligible for the position.
- Ability to obtain or hold “Working at Heights” and “Confined Spaces” tickets.
