Tagalaka Aboriginal Corporation (TAC) is at an exciting turning point, and we are looking for an experienced General Manager to lead us into our next phase of growth. This is a rare chance to take the helm of an Aboriginal corporation, with real autonomy and the backing of a committed Board, and to build something lasting for the Tagalaka People. The opportunity Reporting to the Board, you will lead all of TAC's operations and programs, drive financial sustainability and commercial growth, support solid governance, and build the systems and team that allow TAC to thrive. You will be the senior leader accountable for delivery across rangers, cultural monitoring, land management, native title and commercial activities. Day to day, you will: •Lead delivery of TAC's core projects and programs on time and on budget. •Lead, coach and grow a capable team and a culturally strong workplace. •Manage budgets, grants, compliance and reporting with the Board. •Represent TAC in negotiations and protect native title rights and interests. •Build trusted relationships with Traditional Owners, government, funders and partners. Key Responsibilities •Operations and delivery: Lead delivery of TAC's core projects and programs on time and on budget and aligned to the strategic and operational plans, and implement sound processes, systems and continuous improvement. •People and leadership: Lead, coach and develop a capable team, manage recruitment, induction and mentoring, and foster a safe, respectful and culturally strong workplace. •Finance and compliance: Prepare and manage annual budgets with the Board, ensure grant compliance, acquittals and reporting, and meet all relevant legislation, policy and work health and safety obligations. •Governance and Board support: Advise and support the Board with transparent, timely reporting and sound risk advice. •Native title and commercial: Uphold ILUA and other agreements and represent TAC in negotiations, protect exclusive and non-exclusive native title rights, and pursue commercial and partnership opportunities for community and Country. •Stakeholder and community: Maintain trusted relationships with Traditional Owners, government, landholders, funders and partners, and lead clear, accurate and timely communication. Selection Criteria Essential •Minimum five years' experience at CEO, General Manager or senior executive level. •Proven operational and people leadership, delivering outcomes and meeting targets in a multi-layered environment. •Strong financial and commercial acumen across budgets, reporting and business development. •Experience managing projects, government contracts, grants, compliance and acquittals. •A track record of strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation with external parties. •Demonstrated ability to lead change, growth and continuous improvement. •Demonstrated cultural competency and a genuine commitment to working with and for Aboriginal communities. •Willingness and ability to travel to Croydon as required. Desirable •Tertiary qualifications in management (operational, business or related). •Understanding of the funding, structure and reporting of PBCs or RNTBCs (or similar government-funded NGOs). •Experience in native title, land management, ranger programs or the resources and mining sector. •Human resources experience. •A current open driver licence.
