Role Overview Austral Fisheries Pty Ltd has an exciting yet challenging chance for a Ship’s Engineer (Fishing Industry) to join our team in Queensland on a full‑time basis. Responsibilities
- Comply with Company Drug and Alcohol Testing.
- Support the berthing and unberthing of the vessel when in port.
- Operate, control, and maintain the ship’s engine, machinery, and propulsion systems.
- Assist with baiting and hauling of fishing nets.
- Conduct and record product and refrigeration temperature monitoring in accordance with the Temperature Control Procedure.
- Check temperature probes and freezer gauges for accuracy on a seasonal basis in accordance with the Calibration Procedure.
- Comply with the Personal Health & Hygiene Policy and Product Handling Procedures at all times when handling product.
- Safely store and use cleaning chemicals, gases, oils, and greases in the engine room, and dispose of them safely.
- Maintain equipment, including hydraulics.
- Maintain potable water supply.
- Assist with processing and report any defects to the skipper and, if necessary, to Austral Fisheries Pty Ltd.
- Have a working knowledge of the relevant MSDS for any substance used in and around the vessel.
- Ensure all spaces, including deck and engine room, are cleaned thoroughly following all maintenance and repair work and maintained as such at all other times. Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience on fishing vessels or in seafaring roles.
