Group Employee Relations Manager – Mercy Health Employment type: Permanent Hours: 38 hours per week Location: Hybrid – Mercy Head Office, Richmond/WFH Job Overview As the Group Employee Relations Manager you will use your extensive expertise in complex industrial and employee relations, enterprise bargaining, and organisational compliance to support the delivery of high‑quality ER services across Mercy Health. Your role will enable the organisation to meet its commitments to people at every stage of life. Responsibilities
- Apply expertise in interpreting and managing industrial instruments, monitoring legislative and award changes, and advising leaders on impacts, risks and required actions.
- Lead enterprise agreement negotiations and manage ongoing compliance, building strong relationships with unions and key stakeholders.
- Serve as the escalation point for HR and managers on performance, conduct, investigations, disputes and organisational change.
- Manage escalated external matters, including Fair Work Commission claims and Fair Work Ombudsman correspondence, representing the organisation and overseeing external counsel.
- Analyze workforce data to develop business cases and contribute to ER strategy aligned with organisational objectives and future needs.
- Coach, mentor and build capability across HR, Payroll and management teams, contributing to broader People, Learning and Culture initiatives.
- Cultivate friendly, respectful relationships and foster a collaborative team environment. Qualifications
- Extensive experience interpreting and managing industrial instruments.
- Proven capability in leading enterprise agreement negotiations and managing compliance.
- High‑level expertise in complex IR/ER matters, acting as the escalation point for HR and managers.
- Authority in managing escalated external matters, including Fair Work Commission claims and Fair Work Ombudsman correspondence.
- Robust analytical skills to interpret workforce data, develop business cases and support ER strategy.
- Collaborative leadership style with the ability to coach, mentor and build capability across teams.
- Ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment. Required Evidence A current Police Record Check.
