The Role Applications are sought from experienced Alternate Open Pit ManagerS to join the team at Ora Banda. Responsibilities
- Provide technical and operational leadership across all open pit mining activities.
- Act in the capacity of Open Pit Manager when required, assuming full operational authority.
- Monitor daily mining activities to ensure alignment with short, medium and long‑term mine plans.
- Ensure production targets are achieved safely and within approved design parameters.
- Oversee drill and blast performance, dilution control and ore recovery outcomes.
- Review and optimise mining methods, equipment utilisation and productivity performance.
- Coordinate activities between production, geology, survey, geotechnical and drill & blast teams.
- Support integration of planning outputs into practical field execution.
- Monitor compliance with geotechnical recommendations, tailings controls and pit wall management.
- Identify operational risks and implement practical mitigation strategies.
- Review reconciliation data and drive corrective actions where required.
- Support cost control through monitoring of dig rates, material movement and contractor performance.
- Provide leadership and technical guidance to mining engineers and operational supervisors.
- Maintain strong field presence to ensure standards are upheld and issues are addressed promptly.
- Undertake additional duties as directed by the Open Pit Manager or delegate. About You To be considered for the role, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
- Eligible for appointment as a Quarry Manager under the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 (WA).
- Demonstrated understanding of obligations under the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA) and WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022 (WA).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in open pit mining operations.
- Strong understanding of Principal Mining Hazards and critical control management in open pit operations.
- Proven capability in drill and blast oversight, geotechnical control and open pit sequencing.
- Demonstrated experience in contractor performance management.
- Robust leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency in mine planning and scheduling software.
