About The Role We are seeking a dedicated and proactive R&D; Lab Technician to join our team in Wacol, Queensland. Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will be responsible for conducting research, testing, and analysis of roof tile and masonry products to relevant standards. You will also support collaborative research initiatives and contribute to the development of market-leading products. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Experimentation, testing, and analysis, aligned with achieving Brickworks business objectives.
- Research background literature to support R&D; activities.
- Perform routine inspections of raw materials, in-process production, and finished roof tiles to ensure adherence to quality standards (AS 2049).
- Conduct laboratory tests on tiles, such as strength, absorption, and dimensional accuracy, according to industry and company specifications.
- Manage & maintain electronic quality system and inspections.
- Ensure site laboratory is maintained and kept to required standards.
- Liaise with raw material suppliers regarding quality, specification requirements, and deviations.
- Monitoring the production process, addressing quality issues, and ensuring corrective actions are taken through collaboration with the production and maintenance team.
- Maintain compliance with WH&S; policies and procedures.
- Rotate between company sites as required, with flexibility for travel. Success Requirements:
- Bachelor of Engineering/Science or relevant discipline.
- Knowledge of materials science and scientific methodology.
- Familiarity with engineering/scientific terminology and standards.
- Robust verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to team outcomes.
- Initiative-driven with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Sound analytical and problem-solving abilities.
