Drug Awareness Rehabilitation and Management (Drug ARM) is a not for profit organisation committed to reducing harms associated with alcohol and other drug use. Drug ARM has been a specialist provider of alcohol and other drug services since 1980 and currently operates throughout Queensland and parts of Current South Wales. Our vision of flourishing peoples and communities living free from the harms of alcohol and other drugs is achieved through our commitment to delivering the highest standard of awareness, rehabilitation, and management solutions. We are looking for: An enthusiastic and energetic community support worker who is able to engage with children, young people, parents and carers. We are seeking someone who has a strong commitment to the value of formal education and alternative education/employment (such as traineeships and apprenticeships) and who can promote and support engagement by young people. The ideal candidate will be a friendly go-getter who maintains good relationships with stakeholders across the community including Elders, families, and young people. The role includes thinking creatively and being responsive to the needs of individuals and families accessing the service. The candidate should be able to work in a team as well as autonomously within their area of responsibility. Qualifications or experience in community services or youth work will be highly regarded. This position is an identified position for First Nations Australians, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait applicants only. Key Responsibilities:
- Support young people and children to engage with school and continued learning.
- Work with a team to deliver groups and programs to support connection to community and belonging.
- Provide transport and general support to children, young people, and adults to encourage participation in education and programs and services.
- Be a positive role model and/or mentor for people accessing the services.
- Engaging with the community, schools and families to understand the needs of the community and enhance engagement with Drug ARM programs.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development relevant to the role This role will require you to complete a QLD Blue Card application and NSW Working With Children Check. A Driver’s Licence is required for this role. Selection Criteria Please respond to each criteria question to the best of your ability. SC1 Demonstrated understanding of and knowledge of the local community, including barriers to school attendance. SC2 Demonstrated ability to engage with children, young people and families to deliver services. SC3 Experience supporting the delivery of programs and group activities for children and young people. SC4 Sound understanding of workplace health and safety including conducting risk assessments for activities and groups. SC5 Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft suite of programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams, with the ability to use these tools effectively for communication, documentation, planning, and collaboration.
