Assistant Accountant Somersby

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our finance team, reporting directly to the Finance Manager.

This role will support the day-to-day financial operations of the business and assist with maintaining accurate financial records and reporting.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 2–4 years’ accounting experience who is looking to further develop their career in a supportive and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities Assist with month-end and year-end close processes Prepare and post journal entries and general ledger reconciliations Manage accounts payable and receivable processes Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations Assist in the preparation of financial reports and budgets Support BAS/GST compliance and reporting Maintain accurate financial data and documentation Assist with audit preparation and compliance requirements Provide general administrative support to the Finance Manager

About You 2–4 years’ experience in an accounting or finance role Relevant degree in Accounting, Finance or similar Currently studying or working towards CA or CPA qualification (highly regarded) Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills Experience with accounting systems (e.g., MYOB, Xero, SAP) Excellent organizational and communication skills Ability to work both independently and within a team workplace
