Mechanical Trade Assistant / Fitter (Somersby)

The Company Active Crane Hire is a leading tower crane rental Company on the East Coast of Australia with HQ based in Somersby on the Central Coast NSW. Due to our recent expansion in our crane refurbishment department, we are now seeking additional mechanical assistant staff for our busy operations. Attractive pay rates will be offered based on existing qualifications and experience to the right candidate with potential for further career development. The position on offer is permanent with an immediate start. Mechanical Fitter / Trade Assistant About the Role This is a hands-on role supporting our workshop and site teams with crane maintenance, fabrication, and general mechanical work. You’ll be working alongside experienced tradespeople on a variety of crane and structural projects. Key Responsibilities
- Assembly and maintenance of tower crane components
- General workshop duties including grinding, cleaning, and prep work
- Use of hand and power tools
- Loading/unloading and yard organization
- Assist with site installs when required Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a mechanical or fabrication environment preferred
- Basic knowledge of tools and equipment
- Forklift license (or willing to obtain)
- Dogging or rigging ticket (advantageous, not essential)
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to work in a team and follow instructions Essential
- High level of communication skills
- Ability to work within a Team and deliver projects on time
- Problem solving skills
- Mechanical aptitude with pride in delivering a high service and quality
