Position Criteria:
We are looking for an experienced and qualified Advanced Metal Fabrication Technician & Programmer to join Hidrives manufacturing team in our Goulburn-based workshop. In this specialized role, you will use proprietary control languages to operate multi-axis metal fabrication systems for complex 3D sheet metal forming.

Key Responsibilities:
- Programming & Operation: Implement programming techniques using proprietary Amada and Trumpf control languages (AP100, AMNC, TOPSolid) to operate multi-axis metal fabrication systems.
- Quality Assurance: Adhere to ISO, ASTM, and OEM specifications to validate stringent GD&T and surface finish quality standards through advanced metrology.
- Simulation & Coding: Develop optimized multi-axis toolpath simulations and machine code using Amada and Trumpf CAD/CAM suites (APW, TOPS 3D). Process Optimization: Maintain comprehensive digital production records, including machine parameters and tooling data, to enable manufacturing optimization.
- Maintenance: Implement predictive maintenance regimes for the preventative repair of Amada and Trumpf production systems.
- Technical Diagnostics: Conduct real-time machine monitoring and computational diagnostics to troubleshoot faults, collisions, and inefficiencies.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical leadership and skills mentorship to cross-functional teams regarding material handling and fabrication best practices for high-strength alloys.
- Innovation: Evaluate and pilot emerging factory technologies and stay informed on emerging computational metalforming and additive manufacturing.
Requirements:
Relevant Qualifications:
- A certificate or higher (or overseas equivalent) in welding, metal fabrication, or a related trade. Significant relevant on-the-job experience may substitute for a formal qualification.
- Proven Experience: 3+ years of experience programming Amada and Trumpf digitally controlled fabrication systems.
- Software Proficiency: Strong skills in digital control programming languages (G-code, M-code) and CAD/CAM software like SolidWorks or AutoCAD. - Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of metallurgy and material properties, including Mild Steel, Stainless Steel (304, 3CR12), and Aluminium fabrication.
- Operational Expertise: Extensive experience across the full suite of Amada and Trumpf equipment, including press brakes and integrated production lines.
- Standards Compliance: Knowledge of ISO, ASTM, and OEM standards governing material specifications and quality validation.
- Problem Solving: Excellent mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose complex machinery issues efficiently.
