Finance Officer (Dandenong)

Where finance has a seat at the table, not a desk in the corner. We're looking for a Finance Officer to own our finance function end-to-end. This is not a bookkeeping role. We need someone who runs the numbers, thinks commercially, and gives the Operations Manager a transparent view of the business every week — not just a tidy set of books at year-end. ABOUT THE ROLE: We're a well-established welding and safety supplies business serving trades, manufacturers, and industrial clients. We're looking for a Finance Officer to take genuine ownership of our finance function. This is not a bookkeeping role. We need someone who runs the numbers end-to-end, thinks commercially, and gives the OPS Manager a clear view of the business every week — cash, debtors, creditors, margin, and decisions needed. You'll have a direct line to the OPSM, real influence on commercial decisions, and the scope to shape how the finance function operates. What you'll do
- Deliver a weekly finance pack covering cash position, debtors, creditors, margin, and items needing a decision
- Own daily cash flow and a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast
- Manage accounts receivable, credit control, and drive down debtor days
- Manage accounts payable, payment runs, and supplier relationships
- Maintain inventory accuracy, landed cost, and produce margin analysis by category, customer, and rep
- Complete month-end close within 5 business days and deliver monthly management reports with commentary
- Process payroll and manage BAS, GST, FBT, superannuation, payroll tax, and workers compensation
- Lead the annual budget and rolling forecast
- Provide commercial analysis to support pricing, capex, and customer decisions
- Own and continuously improve the finance and inventory systems What you'll bring
- 5+ years' finance experience, with time as the senior or sole finance person in an SME
- Strong inventory experience in trade, wholesale, distribution, or industrial supplies
- Hands-on experience with Xero or MYOB
- Experience with an inventory system such as Unleashed, Cin7, or similar
- Advanced Excel skills
- Solid working knowledge of Australian payroll, BAS, GST, superannuation, and payroll tax
- Confident communicator who can present numbers clearly to non-finance audiences
- Commercial judgement and the confidence to push back when the numbers don't stack up Desirable
- Tertiary qualification in accounting or commerce
- CPA, CA, or IPA (full or part-qualified)
- Experience in industrial supplies, safety, or related sectors What's on offer
