Due to an increased demand within our business, SYPAQ are seeking multiple Communications Network Engineers with Defence experience for a long-term opportunity with a Defence client. The role offers a start in the new financial year and is a contract of 12 months plus 2 *12 month extensions. These roles are based in Canberra and will be office-based with no option for remote work. Overview The Network Engineer will have applied knowledge in building engineering processes and the application of these processes in support of Enterprise and Warfighting ICT Networks and Applications including Network Architecture Design. They will have the ability to deliver C4ISR Design standards support to the Joint/Integrated Force as part of the Foundation or Co-Design team focused on Enterprise and Warfighting ICT Network and Applications, including Network Architecture Design. They will need to understand the context through which the standards profiles will be developed, and have in depth knowledge of the Joint/Integrated Force. Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of C4ISR Standards Profiles for Enterprise and Warfighting ICT Network and Applications, including Network Architecture Design Standards in order to establish a standardisation baseline. This requires expert technical knowledge in C4 related disciplines, a mature understanding of ADF joint force operations and an effective ability to link the two through structured logical thought and processes, including through reference to architectural models and views.
- Support C4 Design Foundation design activities through the provision of subject matter expertise, as appropriate, and through guidance on the optimal application of standards to achieve joint force interoperability outcomes.
- Govern, utilise, and support the collation and management of standards and standards profiles in collaboration with Standards Owners, Standards Managers, Standards Profile Sponsors and other stakeholders.
- Support the maintenance and ongoing development, review, and updating of the Standards Library/Standards Profiles as a member of the broader C4ISR Design Standards Team.
- Model the standards via Model Based Systems Engineering toolset to support Joint Force interoperability requirements.
- Suggest improvements to the methods, processes, and repositories for the collation and management of Joint Force Standards, Standards Profiles and any other C4ISR Design standardisation products.
- Contribute to the development, review and presentation of Standards Office submissions and briefs to senior committees including the C4ISR Design Working Group and Information Environment Control Board.
- Prepare written briefs to support Enterprise and Warfighting ICT Network and Applications, including Network Architecture Design project assurance activities as projects approach defence committees. Requirement
- Understand C4ISR Design, engineering processes and/or the application of standards as applied to Enterprise and Warfighting ICT Network and Applications, including Network Architecture Design.
- Understanding/experience in Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) reference model and particular experience in network architecture
- Understanding/experience in Defence Telecommunications Network (DTCN), Tactical Interfaces (TACINT), Integrated Battlefield Telecommunications Network (I-BTN) and Joint Black Core Network (JBCN).
- Expertise in architectural processes and views, systems of systems thinking, and application of modelling via Models Based Systems Engineering Toolsets to support interoperability requirements
- Possess and exhibit personable, collaborative and team-focused approaches and demonstrable stakeholder engagement skills.
