This is an excellent opportunity to join a small, respected not-for-profit organisation operating in the immunisation and public health sector. The role will suit a credible, diplomatic and well-connected professional who understands government, can build trusted relationships, and is comfortable working with senior stakeholders across Federal, State and Territory Government. This is a permanent part-time role offering 0.6 to 0.8 FTE, flexible working hours and a work-from-home arrangement. The successful candidate will ideally be ACT based or located close enough to attend Canberra-based meetings when required. About the Role Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining effective relationships between the organisation and government stakeholders. You will act as a key point of contact for government representatives, support advocacy and engagement activities, monitor relevant policy and legislative developments, and identify opportunities aligned with public health, vaccination and infectious disease priorities. The role will also involve indirect support around grant opportunities, including identifying relevant opportunities and discussing these internally. Key Responsibilities
- Act as a key contact between the organisation and government representatives in Canberra.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with decision makers, policy makers and key influencers.
- Represent the organisation professionally in meetings, public forums and stakeholder discussions where required.
- Monitor relevant legislative and policy developments that may impact the organisation's work.
- Support advocacy and engagement activities aligned with public health and immunisation priorities.
- Identify opportunities that align with government priorities and the organisation's objectives.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on relevant projects, programs and policy-related activities.
- Support the identification of relevant grant opportunities and contribute indirectly to the grants process.
- Attend Canberra-based meetings, with occasional interstate travel where required. About You You will be an experienced, professional and diplomatic communicator with a strong understanding of government processes and stakeholder engagement. You will ideally bring
- Previous experience working in Federal, State or Territory Government, or in a government relations, public policy, advocacy or stakeholder engagement role.
- Existing government networks, ideally within health, public policy, aged care, immunisation, infectious diseases or a related area.
- Strong understanding of government processes, legislative procedures and policy environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to identify key decision makers, influencers and opportunities.
- Strong judgement, discretion and professional integrity.
- A calm, collaborative and respectful working style.
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes.
- A diplomatic approach and the ability to build trust with a wide range of stakeholders. The Offer
