Job Title
Join ALS Coal – Gunnedah, NSW as a Casual Coal Quality Tester
About the Position
We are looking for an experienced Coal Tester who can work a minimum of 15 hours per week, with the flexibility to take on additional hours as needed. You must also be willing to travel to support teams at Boggabri and Maules Creek Coal.
Key Responsibilities
Conducting routine coal sampling and testing
Assisting with sample preparation and analysis
Maintaining equipment and adhering to safety protocols
Collaborating with team members across different sites as required
Day to Day
Collection of a range of production and train samples
Performing a range of preparation and analytical tests including Ash, Moisture, and Total Sulphur
Ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner and to agreed standard operating instructions
Checking and validating all results to ensure that they are within repeatability tolerances
Maintaining laboratory equipment: ovens/furnaces, Leco/Sulfur
Optimising turnaround time for samples whilst ensuring the highest quality of results is achieved and maintained
Ensuring Quality Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures are followed
Ensuring a high standard of housekeeping and presentation of all equipment and work areas
Skills / Qualifications
Previous experience in a laboratory or mine setting would be advantageous
Can-do attitude
Flexible and adaptable to work extra shifts
A strong focus on safety & quality
Ability to work alone and unsupervised at times
Driver’s license
Valuable organisation and communication skills
Eligibility
To be eligible to work at ALS you must be a Citizen or Permanent Resident of the country you are applying for, or either hold or be able to obtain a valid working visa.
