Gunnedah Shire Council is seeking a motivated and cooperative professional to join our People & Culture Department as our next Coordinator Injury Management.

Reporting to the Manager of People and Culture, this pivotal role focuses on managing a comprehensive range of injury management and return-to-work functions, ensuring legislative compliance, and fostering a culture of health and wellbeing within the workplace. More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- To undertake a comprehensive range of injury management and return to work functions whilst maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
- Ensure Council’s Injury Management processes and procedures are maintained and current.
- Develop and monitor rehabilitation plans to promote early return to work of injured workers.
- Calculate and submit wage reimbursement reconciliations related to workers compensation claims in consultation with Payroll and Finance.
- Proactively manage workers compensation claims and costs.
- Provide assistance to WHS Business Partner with WHS and Health & Wellbeing projects as required.
- Provide timely advice and information to support employees, workplace managers and departmental officers on health and wellbeing matters to support the implementation of departmental programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with injury management responsibilities, departmental and legislative requirements.
- Provide quality administration support as required. This role requires collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders including the Business Partner on WHS and Health & Wellbeing projects as required. What You’ll Bring to the Team To qualify, you will need tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as Nursing, Physiotherapy, allied health, or related disciplines. Alternatively, candidates with a high level of relevant experience may also be considered. Key Requirements
- Skills in developing and implementing injury management programs
- Experience in case management and return-to-work coordination
- Proficiency in managing workers' compensation claims and rehabilitation processes
- Demonstrated understanding of Injury Management service delivery
- SafeWork accredited Introduction to Return to Working Coordination Course
- Excellent written and oral communication skills Desirable Characteristics
- Mental Health First Aid Training
- Experience in Local Government
- Experience and understanding of key performance indicators such as Lost Time Injury and injury Frequency Rates.
