ABOUT THE ROLE Reporting to the Head of Football Development, The Player Development Manager is a senior full-time position within the Football NSW Technical Department, responsible for the strategic oversight, technical leadership, and quality assurance of the talented player pathway system across the state. The role contributes significantly to the delivery of Football NSW talent identification and development programs, and to the Club Standards & Benchmarking framework, supporting Clubs and Member Associations to enhance high-quality football development environments. The Player Development Manager will play a key leadership role in shaping the technical direction of Football NSW pathways, ensuring alignment between talent programs and club environments. Based at Valentine Sports Park, this full time position requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends to support program delivery and stakeholder engagement. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide strategic technical leadership and quality assurance across Football NSW talented player pathways, including:
- Talent Support Program (TSP)
- Emerging Championships (EC)
- Future Sapphires (FS)
- Lead the ongoing development, review, and alignment of talented player pathways in conjunction with Clubs and Member Associations
- Provide high-level technical guidance and support to Clubs operating within the talented player pathway
- Support Member Associations with pathway implementation, performance measures, and development planning
- Contribute to and support the Club Standards & Benchmarking framework, with a focus on talent environments
- Oversee and contribute to talent identification and talent development strategies across Football NSW
- Facilitate collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and continuous improvement across the football development system with stakeholders
- Attend Football Australia and Football NSW workshops, courses, and meetings as directed by the Head of Football Development
- Operate in line with Football NSW’s values, policies, and technical framework SPECIFIED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- AFC / FA A Diploma (minimum)
- Demonstrated experience working with a broad range of stakeholders across clubs, associations, and governing bodies
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, plan, and execute across multiple projects
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to evidence-based decision-making
- Effective team contributor with experience in conflict resolution and stakeholder management
- High level of computer and technology literacy DESRIABLE EXPERIENCE & QUALIFCATIONS
- AFC / FA Coach Development Instructor or Tutor accreditation
- Extensive experience working within elite and talented youth pathways in football or high-performance sport
- Experience aligning club-based development with governing body pathway frameworks OTHER CRITERIA
- Valid Working with Children Check for paid work
- Driver’s licence, with access town form of transport
- flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required
