Overview Are you an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Registered Nurse looking to make a real difference in your community? Sunshine Coast Health is seeking a passionate Registered Nurse to join our Cultural Healing Team in Gympie. This is more than a nursing role – it is an opportunity to walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people on their mental health and healing journeys while delivering culturally protected, person‑centred care. Working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will provide outreach mental health services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults experiencing mental illness and complex life challenges. You will build strong relationships with consumers, families and community while supporting recovery, wellbeing and connection. What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide mental health assessment, care planning and therapeutic interventions
- Deliver outreach services across the Gympie region
- Support consumers experiencing moderate to severe mental health challenges
- Work collaboratively with families, carers, Elders and community supports
- Partner with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists and other clinicians
- Promote recovery‑focused, strengths‑based and culturally safe care
- Contribute to education, advocacy and improved access to services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- Build meaningful relationships that support long‑term wellbeing and recovery What We Are Looking For
- Hold current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Be passionate about mental health and social and emotional wellbeing
- Value cultural safety and community connection
- Enjoy working independently while being supported by a multidisciplinary team
- Have strong communication and relationship‑building skills
- Want to grow professionally and make a genuine impact in the lives of others
- Have mental health experience (highly regarded, but not mandatory) Benefits
