2IC - Assembler (Dandenong South)

2IC – Assembler & Powder Coater (Hands‑On Role) Leading Hand & Floor Support
- Act as the day‑to‑day hands-on lead within Assembly and Powder Coating
- Allocate daily tasks based on the production plan set by the Supervisor
- Work alongside team members to meet job priorities, quality standards, and deadlines
- Provide immediate assistance, guidance, and troubleshooting on the floor
- Step into the Supervisor role for Assembly & Coating when the Supervisor is absent
- Minimum 1 years of leadership or supervisory experience is required for this 2IC position Assembly & Powder Coating Operations
- Support the efficient assembly, finishing, and coating of sheet metal products
- Ensure jobs are completed to specification, drawing requirements, and quality standards
- Complete first-off checks and escalate issues or deviations to the Supervisor
- Assist in creating, maintaining, and improving SOPs, jigs, and fixtures
- Maintain clean, organised, and safe work areas at all times
- Minimum 3-4 years of experience in assembly operations is essential Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Lead by example in safe work practices and PPE compliance
- Identify hazards, near misses, and quality concerns, escalating as required
- Support toolbox talks and reinforce OH&S; procedures on the floor
- Assist with NCR documentation and corrective actions when required Team Support & Development
- Mentor and support team members through on-the-job training
- Assist with onboarding and skill development of recent starters
- Provide informal feedback and raise performance or behaviour concerns to the Supervisor
- Promote positive teamwork, communication, and accountability Process & Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve workflow, setup times, and reduce rework
- Support implementation of approved process improvements
- Provide practical feedback to the Supervisor on labour, capacity, and job sequencing Reporting & Communication
- Keep the Supervisor informed of progress, delays, and issues within Assembly & Coating
- Communicate job priorities and changes clearly to the team
