This role is central to integrating advanced quality gates into our CI/CD pipelines and ensuring high standards for all software solutions. You will provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and drive the adoption of emerging technologies to enhance our automation capabilities.
- Lead the architectural design and development of scalable automation frameworks and platforms, aligning with enterprise standards.
- Develop and optimise highly reliable UI (e.g., Playwright, Cypress) and API test automation components, focusing on maintainability and performance.
- Architect and implement end-to-end automation pipelines within CI/CD platforms (e.g., Bamboo, GitLab, Bitbucket), integrating quality gates.
- Drive software development excellence in quality automation by establishing and enforcing coding standards, design patterns, and architectural principles.
- Develop advanced monitoring, reporting, and analytics solutions for automation metrics, performing root cause analysis for system failures.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship, fostering continuous learning and adherence to best practices within the team.
- Research and integrate emerging technologies like AI/ML to optimise automation development workflows.
- Ensure operational stability and reliability of automation systems, providing expert support and contributing to incident resolution.
**What experience you'll bring**
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Senior Automation Analyst, Senior Software Developer, or Automation Specialist, with a track record of building and maintaining robust software solutions.
- Deep understanding of software development principles, including data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, architectural patterns, and clean code practices.
- Expert-level proficiency with modern UI automation frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Cypress).
- Solid understanding of REST API development and testing principles and tools (e.g., Postman).
- Experience with designing, developing, and deploying robust software systems.
- Extensive knowledge of CI/CD platforms and version control systems (e.g., Bamboo, Bitbucket, GitLab), including experience with build tools (e.g., Maven, Gradle, MSBuild) and dependency management.
- Proven experience in technical leadership, mentoring, and knowledge sharing within a technical team.
- Demonstrated sound skills in problem-solving, time, and resource management, with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and management.
- A pragmatic, solution-focused mindset with resilience and adaptability. Highly regarded:
- A degree relating to the Information Technology field from a recognised tertiary institution.
- Experience with both UI automation and API/unit testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit, NUnit).
- Practical experience designing and implementing advanced CI/CD pipelines, including infrastructure as code (IaC).
- Extensive hands-on experience designing and deploying cloud-native automation solutions leveraging AWS/Azure/GCP and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with distributed systems, microservices architecture, and testing challenges.
- Experience with performance optimisation, load testing, and system resilience principles.
- Background in financial services or other regulated industries.
