Assurance Manager (Toowong)

**The role**

In this highly visible role, you’ll own the assurance review program, provide strategic insight to senior leadership, and collaborate with stakeholders across the business to lift risk awareness and control effectiveness. Working in a high performing team you will also have the opportunity to mentor Assurance Analysts and champion innovative, efficient approaches to assurance. **Position Accountabilities**

In this role, you'll:

- Lead the execution of the annual assurance plan and risk/control effectiveness reviews.
- Provide sharp, actionable insights and reporting to executive leaders and committees.
- Collaborate closely with Compliance to help the business stay ahead of regulatory and policy requirements (APRA, ASIC).
- Cultivate robust relationships across all lines of defence to support risk maturity.
- Mentor and develop Assurance Analysts to deliver quality outcomes with purpose.
- Champion continuous improvement across assurance and control testing methodology and reporting.

**What experience you’ll bring**

We’re looking for someone who blends technical risk expertise with people leadership and strong communication. Specifically:

- 5+ years’ experience in risk, assurance, audit, or compliance in insurance, financial services or a regulated environment, with at least 2 years in a 2LOD role.
- A track record of leading risk reviews, assurance programs, control testing initiatives or audits.
- Sound understanding of risk frameworks (e.g., ISO 31000, COSO) and regulatory requirements (CPS 220, CPS 230, CPS 234 etc.).
- Experience mentoring is highly regarded.
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Risk or Law. Certifications such as CIA, CPA, CISA, FRM, CPRA, CPRM or CRISC are a plus.
- Strong interpersonal, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills (especially with executive leaders).
