Junior Security Analyst (Toowong)

**The role**

The purpose of the Junior Security Analyst is to assist in the provision of an effective and efficient, sustainable, and secure digital environment for customers, employees, and the organisation as a whole. The role performs an operational function in Auto & General’s capabilities in protecting, defending, and responding to and recovering from digital incidents.
- Assist in identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities in IT systems and networks.
- Review and evaluate cybersecurity information, assigning tasks as needed.
- Maintain security tools, analyse network activity, and report on security trends.
- Support incident management, risk assessment, and vulnerability mitigation.
- Investigate cybersecurity events, document responses, and report emerging trends.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align security strategies and build relationships across departments.

**What experience you’ll bring**

**Essential**
- Up to 3 years of cybersecurity experience.
- Basic knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, networking protocols,
- Experience with responding to security alerts and managing security vulnerabilities
- Ability to analyse data and provide actionable recommendations.
- Strong communication and report-writing skills.

**Desirable**
- Experience in Banking, Finance, Insurance, or Technology.
- Familiarity with security tools (SIEM, XDR, EDR, etc.) and frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, OWASP).
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Foundational understanding of programming and scripting languages, including python, PowerShell for automation.
- Introductory Security certifications (MTA, SSCP, CEH, CISSP) or related studies.
