What You Will Do
- Apply power system fundamentals to practical challenges (operations, protection interactions, compliance).
- Support and progressively lead steady‑state and dynamic modelling/analysis.
- Produce clear, high‑quality outputs: calculations, models, reports, and presentations.
- Deliver and support engineering studies in earthing and EMT (safety‑critical).
- Collaborate with senior engineers and specialists to learn best‑practice methods and build technical ownership.
- Use AI/emerging technologies where appropriate to improve efficiency and quality (automating repetitive tasks, accelerating analysis workflows, improving documentation quality, and extracting insights from data). Client‑facing capability (highly valued and supported). This is a hybrid engineering and consulting role, so a client‑facing mindset is desirable. We will support you to grow. - Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent). Ideally working towards or holding Chartered status with Engineers Australia (or equivalent).
- A solid understanding of electrical engineering principles, basic physics, and control system fundamentals.
- Strong fundamentals in circuit theory and electromagnetism, applied to power system earthing, system operation and protection considerations and safety.
- A demonstrated willingness to learn and grow, including taking on recent technical and client‑facing responsibilities.
- Resilience and adaptability to work across varied tasks from advanced power system modelling and analysis to earthing and EMT studies.
- Experience or exposure to one or more of these software packages: CDEGS, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, PSS E, ETAP. If you’re strong on fundamentals and motivated to learn, we still want to hear from you. What Jacobs Offers
