· 30 mins North of Hobart Bagdad Education and Care is a boutique family‑operated, award‑winning early childhood service with a strong reputation for high‑quality, inquiry‑led, nature‑based education. As a 36‑place Long Day Care Centre located in the Southern Midlands, we are proud of our warm culture, strong community relationships, focus on child safety and commitment to supporting our educators’ wellbeing, work–life balance, and professional aspirations. Our purpose‑built centre is located near nature reserves and within walking distance of additional playgrounds, a tennis court, golf course and oval—providing rich opportunities for outdoor learning and community connection. We are also expanding within our regional area! We are the 2024 National Winner of the Little Scientists Early STEM Award, and the Tasmanian State Winner in 2018, 2020 and 2022. A rare opportunity now exists for an experienced Certificate 3 or Diploma Qualified educators to join our growing professional team. About the Role We are seeking a passionate, energetic, and reflective educator who:
- Places children’s rights, wellbeing, and agency at the centre of all practice.
- Understands their safeguarding responsibilities and reporting processes as well as the 10 Child Safe Standards and actively promotes a culture of empowerment to foster a child safe environment.
- Dynamically Supervises children to ensure safety and actively encourages colleagues to do the same.
- Builds warm, respectful relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Demonstrates a strong track record of leadership, initiative, maturity, and strong communication skills.
- Engages in critical reflection and collaborative professional conversations to support quality improvement.
- Embraces outdoor learning, a nature play ethos, and regular excursions using our commuter bus and local walking tracks.
- Designs and documents high‑quality, child‑led, play‑based programs across a range of age groups.
- Demonstrates the use of respectful and effective behaviour support strategies and skills to ensure the inclusion of all children.
- Is confident using digital tools for planning, documentation, and communication.
- Can work flexibly across 4 days per week (negotiable) between 6:45am and 6:00pm.
- I eager to participate in our learning community (staff meetings, training, family functions) to promote a positive team culture. Essential Requirements
- Certificate 3 or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or actively working towards). Applicants with a Graduate Diploma or higher (but without a Certificate 3 or Diploma in ECEC) will not be considered.
- Current WWVP card, police check, First Aid, Asthma & Anaphylaxis, and Food Handling certificates.
- Completion of the National Mandatory Foundations of Child Safety course.
- Robust knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework, National Quality Framework, National Regulations, and Quality Standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an established, supportive team. What We Offer
