Senior Tax Manager Are you an experienced tax professional ready to take on a senior leadership role? This is an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Tax Manager to join a progressive and expanding accountancy practice in Liverpool. You’ll lead on high-level advisory work, oversee a skilled team, and play a key role in supporting the firm’s continued growth and success. The Role As Senior Tax Manager , you’ll take ownership of a portfolio of complex clients, delivering both compliance and high-value advisory services. You’ll also work closely with the partners to develop client relationships, drive efficiency, and mentor the tax team. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a portfolio of high-value corporate and personal tax clients
- Leading and reviewing compliance work including corporation and personal tax returns
- Providing expert advisory support on tax planning, reorganisations, acquisitions and disposals, share schemes, and succession planning
- Advising on R&D; tax credits, capital allowances, and international tax issues where appropriate
- Acting as the primary point of contact for key clients, building long-term trusted relationships
- Leading, managing, and developing a team of tax professionals, ensuring consistent quality and performance
- Reviewing technical work, providing feedback, and promoting best practice within the department
- Working closely with partners on business development, proposals, and technical leadership
- Identifying opportunities to add value and enhance client relationships
- Keeping up to date with evolving tax legislation and sharing knowledge with the wider team About You The ideal candidate will be a technically strong, commercially minded, and people-focused tax professional with proven leadership experience. You will:
- Be CTA qualified (ACA/ACCA also advantageous)
- Have extensive post-qualification experience in tax within practice, ideally across both corporate and personal tax
- Demonstrate experience leading advisory projects and managing complex client portfolio
- Have proven team management and leadership skills
- Be confident advising clients on complex tax issues and developing innovative solutions
- Possess strong technical knowledge of UK tax legislation and current developments
- Be commercially astute with the ability to spot and develop opportunities
- Have excellent communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills
