The Role We’re seeking a Technical Employee – Automotive to support our training team at the Cherokee Drive – Cambridge campus. This hands‑on role is all about logistics and operational support—ordering, stocking, and credit card use/balancing of accounts, managing inventory—ensuring our classrooms and workshops are equipped and ready to deliver top‑quality training. Working under general direction, you’ll ensure the safe and productive movement and storage of tools, equipment and materials, and help maintain an organised, compliant, and accessible workspace. Permanent Full‑time position. Responsibilities
- Order supplies and tools for the Automotive training programs
- Receive and unpack goods, stock items in designated storage locations
- Keep inventory accurate, up‑to‑date, and accessible for trainers and students
- Assist with maintaining workshop equipment, PPE equipment and keeping learning spaces clean and safe
- Work collaboratively with teachers to ensure classrooms are well‑prepared and stocked
- Assist teachers reset automotive faults in simulated automotive practical training equipment
- Order any fuel required to run equipment/vehicles
- Understand and maintain current SOP (Standard operating procedures) for safety
- MAYBE required to be a First Aid Officer or a Fire Warden What You Will Bring
- Experience required in the automotive industry and it is desirable to have welding/engineering experience
- Great organisational skills—you know where everything goes and how to keep it that way
- Confidence using ordering systems, MS Office Suite/Excel spreadsheet, tracking inventory, and managing stock
- Ability to lift and move equipment safely and follow WHS protocols
- Good communication skills and a team‑oriented attitude and ability to build and maintain great working relationships with suppliers
- A proactive, reliable approach—you see what needs to be done and do it! Qualifications & Requirements Previous experience working within the automotive industry. Applicants with a trade qualification in Mechanical or Engineering/Welding will be highly regarded. Current Driver’s License Desirable – Forklift License A current Working with Vulnerable People registration is required, or the ability to obtain prior to commencement.
