Position Available: Hobart City Church of Christ | Senior Minister
- February 4, 2026 Church overview Hobart City Church of Christ is a Christ-centred, Bible-based, and community-focused church located in the heart of Hobart’s CBD. With more than 150 years of faithful ministry, we are entering a significant recent season as we pursue our vision of Creating spaces of hope and compassion where everyone can encounter Jesus. We are a regional church serving Greater Hobart, drawing a multigenerational congregation from across southern Tasmania. Our central location positions us uniquely for community engagement, civic partnership, and practical service, particularly through the Hobart Clothing Hub. Hobart City Church of Christ is affiliated with Churches of Christ in Victoria and Tasmania (CCVT) and operates within a Policy Governance (Carver) model, providing clear distinction between governance and operational leadership. We are committed to CCVT shared values, ethical standards, and Church Safe practices. We are seeking a spiritually mature, collaborative, and visionary Senior Minister to lead us into our next chapter of growth, discipleship, and community impact. Profile of a suitable Senior Minister Fully committed to a life with God You are deeply grounded in a personal and ongoing relationship with God, drawing on prayer, Scripture, and the Holy Spirit as the foundation for all aspects of life and ministry, and modelling authentic Christian discipleship. Collaborative and empowering leader You work in close partnership with the Elders within a Policy Governance framework, developing and empowering staff and volunteers, valuing shared leadership, and providing clear direction while fostering collaboration. Able to guide us into our preferred future You champion the church’s mission, vision, and core values, leading strategic implementation with wisdom and courage, navigating change thoughtfully, and engaging effectively with a regional, multigenerational congregation. Excellent biblical teacher and preacher You communicate God’s Word with clarity, conviction, and relevance, engaging people at all stages of faith while grounding ministry in sound biblical theology and intentionally developing others in teaching and preaching. Heart for community transformation You are passionate about reaching beyond the church to serve vulnerable people, championing initiatives such as Hobart Clothing Hub and Careworks, and building strong partnerships where spiritual and social needs intersect.
- Remuneration: In accordance with CCVT recommendations and compliant with Australian employment standards
- Start date: Negotiable, commencing in 2026 Eligibility: Open to Australian citizens or permanent residents.
