Levande is seeking a proactive and community-focused Grounds & Maintenance Officer to join our Ridgehaven Rise Community in Ridgehaven, South Australia. This is a varied, hands-on role responsible for supporting the overall presentation, maintenance and day-to-day upkeep of the village, including both property maintenance and grounds maintenance activities. About the Role This is a permanent full-time position working 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, paying $38 per hour. Reporting to the Village Manager, this role combines property maintenance, handyman support, grounds maintenance and village presentation responsibilities across the community. You’ll undertake a broad range of practical maintenance activities across buildings, outdoor areas and common spaces, helping ensure the village remains safe, operational and visually well-presented for residents and visitors. The role includes general repairs and upkeep, grounds and garden maintenance, cleaning and presentation tasks, equipment operation and supporting the overall day-to-day operation of the village. This is a highly resident-facing role that requires strong communication skills, a proactive mindset and the ability to work independently across a broad range of tasks. No two days are the same. Key Responsibilities
- Undertake general property maintenance, repairs and handyman tasks across the village
- Maintain the presentation and upkeep of village gardens, grounds and outdoor common areas
- Complete routine maintenance and presentation activities across buildings, outdoor areas and shared community facilities
- Carry out outdoor cleaning and upkeep tasks including pathways, patios, outdoor furniture, barbeque areas and common spaces
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and urgent safety-related matters
- Operate, maintain and care for gardening and maintenance equipment safely and effectively
- Conduct inspections of village facilities, outdoor areas and equipment to ensure they remain safe, operational and well-presented
- Support rubbish management and general village operational activities
- Build positive relationships with residents, contractors and team members
- Support village events and contribute to a positive community environment
- Maintain a robust focus on workplace health and safety and compliance requirements About You You will bring
- Previous experience in property maintenance, grounds maintenance, handyman or similar hands-on roles
- Strong practical problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance and presentation
- The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Good physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual tasks
- Basic computer literacy and confidence using Microsoft Office
- A current driver licence The following will be highly regarded:
- Experience within retirement living, aged care, schools, council or community environments
- Experience across both property maintenance and grounds maintenance activities
- Experience operating gardening and maintenance equipment
