**About ECHW**
We are seeking an experienced Male Disability Support Worker to join our team in two exciting capacities: providing direct support within a Supported Independent Living (SIL) setting and serving as a Mentor to guide and empower participants on their personal development journey.
These roles are suited to professionals who understand that quality support goes beyond completing tasks. You will play a key role in helping participants feel safe, respected, and comfortable while supporting them to achieve their NDIS goals, independence, and quality of life.
The participant presents complex support needs and behaviors, so we are looking for workers who are calm, emotionally mature, and confident in challenging situations.
**About the Roles**
**SIL Support Worker**
As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide person-centered support in a SIL home, focusing on building trust, encouraging independence, and maintaining a calm and respectful home environment.
**Your responsibilities will include**:
- Providing daily living support, including personal care, meals, and household tasks
- Building genuine rapport through everyday conversation and engagement
- Creating a safe, calm, and homely environment
- Supporting participants to work towards their NDIS goals and independence
- Implementing Positive Behavior Support Plans and following approved strategies
- Supporting community participation and meaningful daily activities
- Maintaining accurate progress notes and documentation
- Working collaboratively with team members and allied professionals
**Mentor**
As a Mentor, you will work closely with participants to build confidence, develop life skills, and foster personal growth. This role focuses on empowering individuals through guidance, encouragement, and positive role modelling.
**Your responsibilities will include**:
- Building trusting, supportive relationships with participants
- Providing guidance on life skills, goal setting, and personal development
- Supporting participants to build confidence and self-advocacy skills
- Encouraging social connections and community engagement
- Acting as a positive role model and providing emotional support
- Collaborating with participants to identify and work towards their personal goals
- Supporting participants through challenges with patience and understanding
- Maintaining appropriate professional boundaries while building rapport

- Strong empathy, emotional intelligence, and professionalism
- Confidence working with participants who have complex behaviors
- Ability to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

**Essential Skills & Experience**
- Minimum 6 months experience supporting people with disability or complex behaviors
- Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, Mental Health, or similar qualification
- Demonstrated experience implementing Behavior Support Plans
- Strong understanding of person-centered support practices
**Mandatory Requirements**
- Male support worker (required for participant support needs)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working With Children Check
- First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Manual Handling Certificate
- 100 Points of Identification
- Valid Driver's License
**Employment Details**
- Casual employment
- Consistent shifts available
- Day, afternoon, evening, passive overnight, weekend and public holiday shifts
Employment conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award, including casual loading.
