Step into a role where your ideas shape moments thousands will remember. As Event Manager for the Ipswich Ag Show and overseeing other key events, you will be the heartbeat of end-to-end delivery—from the first planning session to the final spotlight cue, you’ll orchestrate the whole journey with confidence and flair. You’ll lead the logistics that make magic feel effortless: locking in entertainment lineups, coordinating production schedule and balancing budgets. You’ll command site operations to ensure safety, compliance and precise timing. This is an exciting opportunity to join a vivacious and efficient team to present a leading ag event, whilst providing event management guidance and leadership to the minor event program. The position has the flexibility of part time and full time hours across the year, to maximise peak periods of event planning and delivery. KEY RESPONSIBILITES with respect to the Annual Ag Show: Event Planning & Development
- Develop comprehensive event plans, timelines, and production schedules for key precinct/area events
- Lead event concept development in collaboration with stakeholders, sponsors, and relevant Sub Committees of the Executive
- Ensure events align with organisational objectives, community expectations, and regulatory requirements Logistics & Site Management
- Manage event site layouts, infrastructure, bump-in and bump-out schedules
- Coordinate logistics including staging, fencing, power, lighting, sound, amenities, and equipment
- Manage traffic flow plans, parking operations, access points, and emergency routes Entertainment & Production
- Program and coordinate entertainment
- Liaise with artists, agents, stock contractors, production crews, and technical suppliers
- Manage production schedules and show runs Budget & Financial Management
- Develop and manage event budgets and forecasts working with the Chief Operating Officer
- Negotiate contracts and manage supplier and logistics – including tenders for event supply
- Identify cost efficiencies while maintaining event quality Staffing Support
- Work with the Chief Operating Officer with staff and volunteer rostering for event operations
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels across all operational areas of key events
- Provide clear briefings, supervision, and on-site guidance for relevant staff groups Cleaning & Waste Management
- Develop and manage cleaning schedules for pre-event, during-event, and post-event phases in consultation with the Chief Operating Officer and other Event Team Members
- Coordinate waste management, recycling, and environmental controls
- Ensure site cleanliness meets health, safety, and public presentation standards Risk Management & Compliance
- Develop risk assessments, safety management plans, and event control documents
- Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, local council permits, and event regulations Reporting & Post-Event Review
- Conduct post-event evaluations
- Prepare reports on event outcomes
- Provide recommendations for continuous improvement SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Essential
- Proven experience managing large-scale or complex events
- Strong logistical and operational planning skills
- Experience with production scheduling and site operations
- Budget management and financial control experience
- Sound knowledge of risk management and WHS requirements
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders under pressure
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Desirable
- Experience in agricultural shows, rodeos, or outdoor public events
- Knowledge of traffic management and crowd control
- Familiarity with local council approvals and permitting processes
- Event management qualifications or relevant tertiary education Personal Attributes

The position involves occasional interactions with children and young people as a part of our events, functions and activities.
