An excellent opportunity has become available for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established and highly regarded small animal practice in Ipswich.
This is a fantastic role offering a combination of clinical variety, strong team support, and excellent worklife balance, ideal for a veterinary surgeon with 23 years' experience looking to develop further within a progressive practice.
About the Practice
The practice is a modern, purpose-built small animal clinic equipped to a high standard, delivering a wide range of medical and surgical services to a loyal and growing client base.
Facilities include:
Digital X-rayUltrasoundEndoscopyIn-house laboratoryDedicated operating theatreSeparate dog, cat, and exotics wards The practice manages a diverse caseload, including routine procedures and more advanced surgeries such as:
Exploratory laparotomies and complex soft tissue surgeriesOrthopaedic procedures including BOAS and TTAAdvanced diagnostics supported by a visiting internal medicine specialist A strong focus is placed on in-house case workups and clinical development, providing excellent learning opportunities.
The Team
You will be joining a supportive and collaborative clinical team consisting of:
5 Veterinary Surgeons, including experienced leadership5 Registered Veterinary NursesA Student Veterinary Nurse and Veterinary Care AssistantDedicated non-clinical support staff The team culture is highly collaborative, with regular case discussions, knowledge sharing, and a genuine emphasis on continuous improvement and professional growth.
The Role
This is a well-rounded GP role offering a balance of consultations and surgery, with exposure to a varied and engaging caseload.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering high standards of patient and client careManaging both medical and surgical casesWorking cases up to a high standard with full clinical supportContributing to a positive and team-focused working environment This role is ideal for a veterinary surgeon who enjoys variety and autonomy, while still benefiting from a strong support network.
Working Pattern
Full-time or part-time considered4-day working week (full-time)1 in 3 Saturdays (with time off in lieu)No out-of-hours or on-call Flexible working options are available, including the ability to tailor weekday and weekend commitments.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will:
Hold a BVSc or equivalent veterinary degree recognised in the UKBe RCVS registered (or eligible)Have 23 years' small animal experience (preferred)Be confident with routine surgery and consultationsDemonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skillsHave a proactive and enthusiastic approach to clinical work Salary & Benefits
Salary £45,000 £60,000 (DOE)28 days holiday, rising to 33 days with serviceDedicated CPD allowance with support for certificatesPaid professional memberships (RCVS, BVA, VDS)Private health insuranceLife assurance (4x salary)Contributory pension schemeCycle to work schemeRetail and lifestyle discounts platform Location
