Description
CSA Mine is one of Australia’s longest operating copper mines with a history stretching back almost 150 years. At 1.9 kilometres deep, CSA is the second deepest copper mine in Australia and the third highest copper grade in the world. Located near the NSW town of Cobar, CSA Mine employs around 550 people and produces approximately 40,000 tonnes of copper concentrate per year. The ore is mined and processed on site and then transported by rail 700km to the Port of Newcastle for export. We are proud to have recently joined Harmony Australasia. Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities. In Papua Recent Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project. In Australia, Harmony owns the high-grade CSA copper mine in Cobar, NSW and is currently preparing to progress the Execution Phase of the Eva Copper Mine Project in QLD. These assets are supported by the Harmony Australasia regional corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane. ABOUT THE ROLE Step into a vital underground role with Harmony CSA in Cobar as part of the Underground Service Crew, where you will help ensure operations run safely, smoothly, and efficiently. In this position, you’ll install, maintain, and repair essential underground systems such as water and air lines, pumping infrastructure, ventilation, electrical and communication networks. This is a practical, team-focused role where precision and reliability matter. You’ll collaborate with experienced professionals in a supportive setting, with excellent opportunities to grow and advance your career in mining. We require highly experienced, capable individuals for this area of underground mining. If you have a minimum of three years demonstarted experience, we would love to hear from you. Duties and responsibilities, although not limited to:
- Install, maintain, and repair underground services including ventilation systems, water and air lines, power cables, and comms
- Assist with ground support activities, including installing mesh and bolts
- Move equipment and materials to support mining operations
- Help prepare development headings and maintain general underground conditions
- Ensure compliance with all site safety procedures and standards
- Work as part of a collaborative team where your efforts are acknowledged ABOUT YOU
- A minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in a service crew or hard rock underground mining role is Essential
- Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- A manual driver’s licence (required)
- A strong work ethic and commitment to safety
- Ability to work in physically demanding and confined environments
