**Location**:Lithgow, NSW**: **The Opportunity**:
- Lithgow City Council _has an exciting opportunity for an **Emerging Economy Manager **to join their team in Lithgow, NSW.
As part of an interdisciplinary team of internal staff and external consultants, the Emerging Economy Manager will help implement the economic development, transitions management, urban regeneration, place-making and other allied actions recommended by the Lithgow Emerging Economy Plan (**LEEP**).
LEEP has been identified by the community as one of its most important priorities and Council is supporting the LEEP team with significant resourcing. The LEEP will be one of the first regional transitions management exercises, in an Australian context, resulting from global efforts to de-carbonise the economy.
A key part of the role will also be identifying expertise and capability gaps within the LEEP team and scoping tasks for suitably qualified external resources to assist with implementation.
More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):
- Coordinate and implement Council’s economic development and transitions management strategic interventions and other activities in support of Council’s integrated planning and reporting framework.
- Identify and action viable projects and initiatives relevant to the growth of the City’s economic base (including business attraction, retention, job creation, business assistance, marketing, and related functions).
- Contribute to the development, monitoring, and implementation of Council’s strategic planning policy framework particularly as it relates to employment lands and housing supply.
- Prepare and advance potential project briefs and specifications to inform annual LEEP action plans and strategies.
- Co-ordinate the submission of funding bids, monitoring and advising on the grants available for economic development, transitions management, strategic planning, precinct planning, place-making, property improvement and business support including government grants and private investment.
- Assist with community engagement and contributing to the communication of successful initiatives.

**About you**:
- A recognised qualification in economics, economic development, business, planning, urban renewal, place-making, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of knowledge and several years’ experience in any of the identified fields
- A demonstrated commitment to driving positive change in the socioeconomic circumstances of communities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work with diverse individuals and groups, to impart knowledge, transfer skills, build and maintain relationships and report to a broad range of people
- Analytical research skills with ability to monitor, problem solve, think laterally, and critically reflect on outcomes and report these
- Demonstrated high standard of integrity, probity and discretion
- Demonstrated motivation and ability to work both collaboratively and independently
- A current ‘C’ class drivers’ license
- Knowledge or familiarity with appropriate qualifications and experience in one of the disciplines set out in the essential criteria
- Experience in or knowledge of State and Federal government structures and processes.
- Previous experience working in a similar role
