As a Ground Service Equipment Technician, your primary responsibility is to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the airport ground support equipment (GSE) fleet. Collaborating closely with the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator and Airport Managers, you play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of the GSE fleet network. Your duties include conducting routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and promptly addressing breakdowns to contribute to the efficient functioning of airports.
**Responsibilities of the role**:
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on the airport ground support equipment (GSE) fleet.
- Carry out repairs and diagnose issues to maintain optimal functionality of equipment.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and efficiently resolve failures.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and guidelines during maintenance tasks.
- Provide training and guidance to team members on equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
- Participate in equipment testing and inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Maintain effective communication with stakeholders, including fellow technicians, supervisors, and equipment suppliers.
- Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in GSE technology and maintenance practices.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including equipment maintenance logs and repair documentation.
- Manage spare parts and supplies inventory to ensure adequate levels for maintenance and repairs.
- Collaborate with the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator and Airport Managers to prioritize and schedule maintenance activities.
- Conduct Quality Inspections on assets returning from maintenance providers.
**What would make you stand out for this role?**
- Thorough understanding of the Aviation industry (preferred), particularly in ground support equipment operation and maintenance.
- Extensive experience in managing heavy vehicles and/or plant & equipment fleets, including lifecycle costing and effective parts and supplier management.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of equipment design and operation (mechanical, automotive, or plant trade qualification preferred).
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
- Experience with Maintenance Management Systems (e.g., Maximo), preferred.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and adaptability to company IT systems.
