Mechanical Fitter & Turner (Keilor Park)

A rare opportunity exists for an experienced Fitter & Turner to step into a hands-on leadership role within our manufacturing division. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will take ownership of precision manufacturing of mechanical automotive and industrial cable assembly while mentoring junior technicians and driving quality outcomes. This role suits a tradesperson who enjoys variety, autonomy, and technical challenge Key Responsibilities
- Interpret complex engineering drawings and execute work to exact specifications
- Manufacture and assemble high-precision cable and mechanical assemblies
- Perform advanced techniques including:
- Thread cutting (internal & external)
- Brazing and welding (MIG, argon, oxy-acetylene)
- Operate manual machinery including:
- Lathe (turning, boring, threading)
- Milling and slotting equipment
- Select appropriate materials and components based on design and application requirements
- Conduct thorough quality inspections to ensure compliance with specifications
- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members
- Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient workshop environment About You
- Trade qualified Fitter & Turner
- Strong experience with manual machining and fabrication
- Confident reading and interpreting technical drawings
- Skilled in welding and fabrication processes (MIG and oxy preferred)
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Proven ability to support or lead others on the workshop floor
- Strong communication skills and a team-focused mindset
- Reliable, organised, and takes pride in presentation and work standards
