Part-time (30 hours per week / Mon-Fri)
Why this role matters: The Salvation Army (Salvos) Youth Services encompasses a range of programs for vulnerable young people, their families, and the community. Our educational services have a strong focus on providing a safe and supportive learning space where young people are encouraged to have faith, resilience and continue to reach for their dreams.
About the role: As an Education Support Officer (ESO), your primary purpose is to collaborate with the teaching team dedicated to helping students reach their full potential.
How You Will Make an Impact:
- Encourage and promote a growth mindset among students.
- Model and support appropriate social and emotional development; assist in creating and implementing positive behaviour plans.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with The Salvation Army policies and relevant government legislation.
- Assist in the collection of data for the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD).
What You Will Bring:
- Relevant ESO qualifications (e.g., Certificate III or IV in Education Support, or equivalent).
- A current QLD Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or the ability to obtain one.
- Proven experience working with students disengaged from mainstream education, with the ability to re-engage and motivate them toward education or training pathways.
- A sound understanding of the impact of trauma on young people.
- Experience working with students in a Special Assistance School Setting ( particularly with students in Years 10-12)
Conditions: Salary will be in accordance with award rates and based on the successful applicant’s skills and experience. Working days and hours are dependent on school requirements during term time only, with stand-down periods during school holidays.
