The primary purpose of the position is to support delivery of Council's sustainability agenda (including environmental and aspects of financial sustainability) through the development and implementation of strategies, policies and projects across water, sewer, waste and general services, with a strong focus on energy efficiency, water efficiency, reducing carbon emissions, responsible resource management, improving resilience (community and infrastructure) and emergency readiness and response. Duties: Specific duties are detailed in the Operations section of the Position Description (attached) and include but are not limited to:
- Develop review and support implementation of sustainability-related strategies, policies and plans and provide input into corporate strategies, plans, policies, reports and programs.
- Collect, validate and manage sustainability performance data to support reporting, research and evidence-based decision-making, including monitoring of organisational resource use data and distribute insights to facility managers across Council.
- Prepare feasibility studies and business cases for proposed sustainability actions and initiatives and apply for, manage and report on grant funding.
- Engage external stakeholders (as required) to support sustainability planning, delivery and reporting, including but not limited to essential energy and other energy providers and RAMJO.
- Provide project management and support on allocated projects to support the delivery of sustainability initiatives. The applicantwill have: 1. Demonstrated experience in supporting procurement processes such as tenders and request for quotations. 2. Demonstrated ability to solve problems by examination and analysis of available data and options. 3. Demonstrated strong organisational, time-management and prioritisation skills, with keen attention to detail and a proven ability to meet deadlines despite competing priorities. 4. Demonstrated experience in developing strategic plans, policies and reports to improve Council's environmental sustainability performance. 5. Ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships with all stakeholders, both internal and external to an organisation. 6. Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to liaise with all levels of Council staff, government and community. 7. Possess and maintain at least a Class C drivers’ licence. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with at least four years of relevant work experience in a local government service. Salary and conditions: A salary of between$1,703.80 to $1,908.30 per week plus 12% superannuation will be offered (depending on qualifications and experience). This permanent position is 35 hours per week, with a monthly rostered day off. Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award. Prior to commencement the successful applicant will be required to undergo a Functional Assessment which includes an alcohol and other drug screening and a hearing test.
