Location Profile Inverloch and Kongwak Primary Schools (IKPS) is located on beautiful Bunurong and Boon Wurrung country, in the seaside town of Inverloch in the Bass Coast Shire and the small country town of Kongwak in the South Gippsland Shire, approximately 150kms south-east of Melbourne. And we pay our deep respect to Elders past, present and emerging. IKPS is run in a hub-annex arrangement with a combined staff, and a shared Principal and two Assistant Principals. Whilst our two schools work together closely, their individual communities, cultures and traditions are respected and nurtured. Our school in Inverloch has grown rapidly over the years to reach a current enrolment of 466 students and we run 20 classes, with an additional 5 specialist areas, P.E., Music, Art, STEM and Auslan. We have 53.32 equivalent full-time staff: 3 principal class, 30 teachers and 20 Education Support staff. Our school in Kongwak has 2 multi-age classes and 30 students enrolled in 2026. At IKPS we support our students to develop understandings and meaningful skills that contribute to health and wellbeing, which includes the development and implementation of our SWPBS program. We also value and nurture a trusting and supportive teaching environment for all our staff. IKPS is a vital and integrated part of our two towns. Demonstrated knowledge, ability and experience in coordinating the provision of Occupational Therapy Services. SC2. Expert knowledge and experience in providing range of interventions aiming at increasing students¿ participation in school programs, including prescription of assistive technology, mobility aides and sensory programs. SC3. Demonstrated ability to use a range of assessment and outcome measures to develop and evaluate intervention programs and curriculum delivery. SC4. High level of communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with students, staff, parents and other members of the community and an ability to develop collaborative working relationships and participate effectively in a team environment. SC5. Highly developed organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to work independently, utilise effective time management strategies, establish priorities and meet deadlines. Role The Occupational Therapist will ensure that Occupational Therapy services are delivered using a collaborative model within the educational framework. The Occupational Therapist will work to support the school community to realise the strategic vision for therapy provision across the whole school. Key responsibilities of the Occupational Therapist include:
- Incorporating school policies and procedures into planning of therapy services.
- Update, revise and share all relevant assessment documents and plans.
- Active management of specific caseload including complex cases and high needs students.
- Active support of the Disability Inclusion process. Responsibilities In addition to the above, the successful applicant will also:
- Comprehensively assess students¿ needs from developmental, neurological and sensory perspectives.
- Design and implement goal focused occupational therapy programs for students in classrooms and group settings.
- Recommend appropriate adaptive equipment according to student needs and liaise with external agencies as appropriate.
- Liaise with and educate parents, care givers and staff on the secure and appropriate use of prescribed adaptive equipment.
- Liaise with external health professionals involved with the care of each student as necessary.
- Write appropriate reports for the Educational Needs Questionnaire as required.
- Work as part of an interdisciplinary team with other occupational therapists, speech pathologists, student wellbeing team and classroom teachers on improving student engagement and outcomes.
- Prescribe and purchase equipment for the school and ensure that the school equipment is well maintained and safe for use.
- Conduct oneself in line with all school and departmental policies and procedures, as well as those outlined by the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
