A well-established Australian food manufacturer based in Lidcombe is seeking an experienced Quality Control Officer to support and drive quality, safety, and compliance across its food production operations. This hands-on role is ideal for someone passionate about food safety, product integrity, and continuous improvement. Our client specialises in manufacturing vegetable products and supplies Nationally into the Big 4 supermarkets as well as independent retailers.

Reporting directly to the Production Manager and Company Directors, the Quality Control Officer will play a critical role in ensuring that all food products exceed regulatory and customer expectations. You’ll oversee internal food safety systems, conduct testing, maintain quality documentation, and help lead internal and external audits.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and implement the food quality system (SQF, HACCP, CFMSR, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with Food Standards Australia New Zealand and the SQF Code
- Review QA documentation (product specs, allergen management, manufacturing records)
- Conduct internal audits and assist with external audits and accreditations
- Monitor production batches, perform quality checks, and document resultsMonitors Critical Control Points and Quality Control Points to ensure that all monitoring activities are done as per schedule and that all corrective actions are being followed
- Test raw materials and finished products (e.g. acid/vinegar titration)
- Manage customer complaints and assist with investigations and resolutions
- Updating and reviewing of all QA documentations like Product Specification, Process Flow, HACCP Audit Table etc
- Manage Customer Complaints Investigation or product issues
- Testing of raw materials and finished products
- Compiling, checking and approving product specification and labelling
- Provides training to all the staff
- Verification of all the QC Records
- Raising Nonconformance report to suppliers
- Maintenance and Calibration of al equipment
- Provide in office training and assist in evaluating and improving training programs
- Review and approve product specs, labels, and packaging compliance
- Support R&D; trials and product development initiatives
- Conduct supplier audits and assess ingredient safety and suitability
- Assist with packaging innovation and process improvement projects
- Maintain appropriate storage and handling of raw materials
- Ensure the cleanliness of workspaces and equipment as per food safety standards
- Accurately record daily production and communicate with relevant departments What You’ll Need
Qualifications & Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Food Science or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a QA/QC role within the food manufacturing industry
- Strong understanding of HACCP, SQF, and food safety regulations
- Knowledge of materials, ingredients, food hazards, and WHS requirements
- Experience with internal audits, lab testing, and customer complaint handling Skills & Attributes:
- Sound computer literacy (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent ability to train team members on Safe food handling methods as well as quality control procedures
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Physically fit and capable of working in a hands-on environment
- High level of integrity, reliability, and a robust work ethic
- Free from skin allergies related to food and cleaning agents
