With a strong reputation for quality food and customer service, we are seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our growing team. Key Responsibilities
- Planning, preparing and cooking a wide variety of authentic Indian dishes including curries, tandoori items, vegetarian specialties, breads, rice dishes and regional Indian cuisine.
- Preparing, seasoning and cooking food in accordance with established recipes and restaurant standards.
- Monitoring food quality at all stages of preparation and presentation to ensure consistency and customer satisfaction.
- Designing and contributing to menu development, seasonal offerings and special dishes.
- Supervising food preparation and cooking activities within the kitchen.
- Ensuring all dishes are presented to a high standard with appropriate portion control.
- Managing stock levels, ordering food supplies and liaising with suppliers as required.
- Inspecting food ingredients and finished products to ensure freshness, quality and compliance with food safety standards.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen environment.
- Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety regulations and food handling requirements.
- Training, supervising and mentoring kitchen staff where required.
- Assisting in rostering and coordinating kitchen operations during busy service periods.
- Working collaboratively with management and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient restaurant operations. Qualifications & Experience To be considered for this role, applicants must possess:
- Diploma of Hospitality Management, Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, or a relevant qualification.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of full-time experience as a Chef in an Indian restaurant or commercial kitchen environment.
- Robust knowledge of Indian cuisine, spices, cooking techniques and food presentation.
- Experience in preparing a wide range of traditional and contemporary Indian dishes.
- Sound understanding of food safety, kitchen operations and stock management.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Reliable, motivated and passionate about delivering high-quality food.
