Lead training. Set the standard. Fly with purpose. At QGAir, we're looking for a Head of Training and Checking to oversee Fixed Wing pilot standards, training and operational capability. You'll ensure proficiency, provide expert advice to senior leadership, and drive continuous improvement across flight operations. Alongside leading training and checking, you'll contribute to frontline flying operations supporting critical government missions. About us: Queensland Government Air (QGAir) forms part of the Queensland Police Service (QPS), Aviation Capability Group (ACG) and provides government aviation services specialising in both rotary and fixed wing operations in support of the QPS and our partner agencies in regular and emergency response operations across Queensland. The Role: Take the next step in your aviation leadership career as the Fixed Wing Head of Training and Checking with QGAir. In this pivotal role, you'll lead the Training & Checking function, ensuring the safe, productive and effective delivery of QGAir's training program. You will uphold the highest standards of currency and proficiency, conduct training and support licence and rating issue or renewal in line with QGAir and CASA requirements. Reporting to the Head of Flying Operations, you'll play a crucial role utilising your exemplary aeronautical knowledge, crew resource management and flight and safety standards to provide technical advice and drive continuous improvement of flight standards, operations and procedures. This is a full-time 3-year contract position, located at the Brisbane Airport. Why Fly with Us?

- Hold a current Australian Commercial Pilots Licence (CPL)
- Flight Instructor Rating (FER)
- Multi Engine
- Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating
- 4 Renewals
- Minimum 5000 hours total time
- Minimum 4000 hours Pilot in Command (PIC)
- Minimum 200 hours Night PIC
- Minimum 1000 hours Multi-Engine PIC
- Minimum 1000 hours Turbine PIC
- Recent Fixed Wing Single-Pilot Experience (within 2 years)
- Hold or be eligible to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
- Current Class 1 Aviation Medical
- Hold a current Australian Passport Highly Desirable Requirements:
- Hold a current Australian Air Transport Pilots Licence (ATPL)
- Flight Examiner Rating (FER)
- Minimum 500 hours fixed wing flight instructor / check and training.
- B360 Type Rating
- C208 (or similar) Experience Special Conditions
- Prior to appointment, the successful applicant will be required to complete an initial psychological assessment to determine their suitability to perform the inherent occupational requirements of the role.
- In compliance with CASA Drug and Alcohol Management Plan requirements, the preferred applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment testing and participate in the QGAir Drug and Alcohol Management Program.
- Following appointment to the role, ongoing employment will be subject to the successful candidate securing and maintaining formal approval from CASA to hold the position of HOTAC for the organisations AOC.
- The successful applicant will be required to undertake touring duties at any base operated by the Aviation Capability Group.
- The successful applicant must be available for rostered duty within one hour of notification of required flight.
- The successful applicant must comply with the organisations Drug and Alcohol Management Plan.
