Location: Tomago, NSW, AU About The WesTrac Apprenticeship Program Launch your career with WesTrac and earn while you learn. Complete a 4- or 5-year apprenticeship (dual trade), gaining a nationally recognised trade qualification while working on Caterpillar equipment and the latest technology. You’ll build strong hands‑on skills while training in up-to-date facilities and workshops with expert support. Based in Tomago this program sets you up for long‑term career growth—from technical roles to leadership and beyond. Responsibilities
- Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Inspect and repair a range of Caterpillar parts and components
- Accurately take measurements to ensure parts meet required tolerances and specifications
- Operate lathes and CNC's
- Repair and test hydraulic cylinders
- Safely operate workshop equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes and tools
- Maintain a safe working environment
- Navigate Caterpillar systems to ensure all work is done in accordance with Caterpillar’s quality standard Qualifications
- Must be 16 years or older by December 2026
- Australian working rights (Citizen or Permanent Resident)
- Strong communication, reading and writing skills
- Genuine interest in mechanical trades, machinery or hands‑on learning
- Driver’s licence and reliable transport (or close to obtaining one) with ability to travel to work and training
- Honest, reliable and dependable
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude
- Successful applicants will be required to complete a satisfactory National Criminal History Check and a Pre‑Employment Medical Benefits
- Earn while you learn in a paid apprenticeship
