Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
- Leading Hand About the Role We are looking for an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic – Leading Hand to support the day-to-day performance of our Rutherford workshop. This is a hands-on leadership role — you will continue completing your own servicing, repairs, and diagnostics while taking responsibility for workflow, job quality, and on-the-floor standards. You’ll work closely with supervisors, providing real-time visibility of job progress, supporting the team, and helping ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Key Responsibilities
- Complete servicing, repairs, and diagnostics on heavy vehicles
- Lead by example on the tools with strong safety and quality standards
- Support workflow, job prioritisation, and team coordination
- Monitor job progress, labour hours, and raise issues early
- Ensure job cards, service sheets, and timesheets are accurate
- Coordinate parts and support basic stores control
- Promote safety through toolbox talks and hazard identification
- Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient workshop
- Act as a reliable on-the-floor point of contact for the team About You
- Trade qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
- Experience as a Senior Mechanic or Leading Hand
- Strong understanding of workshop systems and job tracking
- Confident communicator who earns respect on the floor
- Well organised with good attention to detail
