Chief Strategic Growth & Development Manager Home in Place is one of Australia’s largest non-government social housing providers, managing more than 7,300 properties across Australia and New Zealand, along with 1,400 Specialist Disability Accommodation places. With over 40 years of impact and a strong growth agenda, the organisation is investing in its future capability and expanding its commercial leadership team. The Opportunity As Chief Strategic Growth & Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in identifying, structuring and delivering major housing and infrastructure projects from concept through to completion. Working closely with the Executive and Board, you will act as the commercial lead across complex transactions, partnerships and development initiatives that balance solid commercial outcomes with meaningful community impact. You will lead the commercial assessment and execution of major projects, while building robust partnerships across government, financiers, developers and delivery stakeholders. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading large-scale housing and mixed-use development projects from feasibility through to delivery.
- Structuring commercial transactions, partnerships and funding arrangements.
- Developing detailed feasibility studies and business cases.
- Advising Executive and Board stakeholders on investment, risk and commercial strategy.
- Managing planning, procurement and project delivery outcomes.
- Building relationships with government bodies, funding partners, consultants and developers.
- Supporting long-term organisational growth and increased housing supply.
- Leading and mentoring a small commercial development team. About You You are commercially astute, highly strategic and comfortable operating in complex, high-value environments. You bring strong commercial judgement, exceptional stakeholder engagement capability and the ability to navigate sophisticated transactions with confidence. To be successful, you will demonstrate:
- Experience leading large and complex projects or transactions, ideally valued at $50M+.
- Advanced financial, feasibility and commercial analysis capability.
- Strong understanding of funding structures, capital raising and commercial risk.
- Experience engaging with Executive, Board and external stakeholder groups.
- Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
- The ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced and evolving environment. Highly desirable is:
- Experience in social infrastructure, housing, infrastructure, energy, or comparable capital-intensive sectors.
- Prior experience designing or implementing government funding or financing programs. Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Property, Commerce, Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, Law or related discipline.
- MBA qualifications highly regarded.
- Additional project management or infrastructure qualifications advantageous. Home in Place provides highly flexible hybrid working arrangements across the East Coast of Australia. Regular travel to the Group Head Office of Home In Place in Newcastle will be required.
