About Us Provence Bakers is a reputable café and bakery located in Malvern, Victoria. We are known for delivering high-quality bakery products, café dining experiences, and exceptional customer service. Due to continued business growth and increasing customer demand, we are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Baker to join our professional bakery team on a full-time basis. Position Summary The Baker will be responsible for preparing, baking, decorating, and presenting a variety of bakery products in accordance with business standards, food safety requirements, and operational needs. Duties and Responsibilities
- Check the cleanliness of equipment and operation of premises before production runs to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
- Check the quality of raw materials and accurately weigh ingredients.
- Knead, mature, cut, mould, mix, and shape dough and pastry goods.
- Prepare pastry fillings, creams, and bakery components in accordance with recipes.
- Monitor oven temperatures and product appearance to determine baking times.
- Coordinate the forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning, and cooling of batches of bread, rolls, pastries, and bakery products.
- Glaze buns and pastries, and decorate cakes using cream, icing, and other toppings.
- Operate bakery machines used to roll and mould dough and cut biscuits and pastries.
- Empty, clean, and grease baking trays, tins, and other cooking equipment.
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety compliance at all times.
- Monitor stock rotation, ingredient storage, and inventory control procedures.
- Inspect finished bakery products to ensure consistency, freshness, and presentation standards.
- Minimise product wastage and support efficient production processes.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and protected bakery environment.
- Work collaboratively with management and staff to support daily bakery operations and customer satisfaction. Relevant Experience Requirements
- Certificate III in Baking or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 1 year of full-time post-qualification experience as a Baker in a commercial bakery environment.
- Strong knowledge of bakery production techniques and baking operations.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and WHS compliance requirements.
- Good communication, teamwork, and organisational skills. Employment Conditions
- Full-time permanent position.
- Annual salary between $77,500 – $85,000 plus superannuation.
