The service
Health Information Services (HIS) and the Patient Services Departments (PSD) provides a range of services including across multiple locations of the health service. This includes areas such as:
- Medical record retrieval and delivery, clinical coding, release of information and forms design.- Patient administration services including registration, admissions and discharging patients and collecting payments
The role
Cabrini is seeking several reliable administration clerks to work on a casual basis at Cabrini Malvern, and on occasion, Cabrini Brighton. In these roles you will be part of a team that works across both HIS and PSD, contributing to the patient experience at Cabrini as an initial point of contact for patients attending the hospital or providing administrative support that enables our clinicians to provide care.
Within HIS you will be responsible for activities that contribute to the management of medical records to ensure timely access to health information for the provision of care and revenue cycle management. This includes retrieving and delivering medical records to various hospital departments as well as filing of records in our main department and secondary storage areas. The role also includes customer service; filing of documents; and other general clerical duties. The position is somewhat physical in nature and requires a person who has the physical capability to manage the pulling and transporting of multiple records.
The PSD role is responsible for, preparation of patient admission paperwork, data entry, updating patient details, admitting and discharging patients and other administrative duties.
These departments are busy and requires a person with speed, efficiency, accuracy and reliability.
This is a casual position involving weekday, afternoon, weekend shifts and occasional public holidays. Shifts are 7.6 hours in duration.
There is potential for these roles to become permanent part-time.
Key requirements of the role- Strong attention to detail and accuracy- Valuable numeracy and literacy skills- Excellent customer service skills- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a positive and friendly attitude- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to be flexible when needed- Ability to work as part of an effective team as well as with limited supervision- Previous experience with medical records or medical terminology (desirable)
